From Rotorua: Wai-O-Tapu, Waimangu and Te Puia Full-Day Tour

About This Experience
Three parks in one day, capped at fifteen guests: Wai-O-Tapu for the coloured pools, Waimangu for the volcanic valley, and Te Puia for Pohutu Geyser and the Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. Admission to all three is included, which is where most of the value sits — bought separately they add up quickly.
The morning follows the same rhythm as the shorter eco-thermal trip: a guided hour through Wai-O-Tapu, then the 10:15 am Lady Knox Geyser presentation, then down into Waimangu past Frying Pan Lake and Inferno Crater with the 1886 Tarawera eruption story told on site.
The afternoon at Te Puia is the change of register. Pohutu is a natural geyser on the Whakarewarewa field — no surfactant involved — and the institute alongside it is a working carving and weaving school. Eight hours door to door, back in Rotorua by evening.

Lovely day going through the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua. Clive picked us up on time and we had a wonderful time through the day. He is a font of knowledge about life and plants around Rotorua and brought the place to Life.

How is Pohutu different from the Lady Knox Geyser?
Pohutu at Te Puia erupts on its own, often more than once an hour and up to around 30 metres. Lady Knox at Wai-O-Tapu is induced with a surfactant at 10:15 am each day. Seeing both in one day is the point of this itinerary.

No — food and drink are at your own cost. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes; you will be walking down a volcanic valley and around two more parks.
